For Immediate Release – September 22, 2006
Central Bedeque – The South Shore Tourism Group is hosting a meeting September 27 for tourism operators to learn more about the association’s geocaching project.
“We are going to give an update on our activities, but most importantly, show people what geocaching is and show how we can make it a tourism activity,” says South Shore board member Phil MacKay. “We are holding a much more comprehensive two day workshop on October 4 and 5 for our members, and the meeting on September 27 is a sort of prerequisite. You’ll have to know something about geocaching to take part in the workshop in October, so we encourage people to attend on Wednesday evening.”
The meeting takes place at the Emerald Community Hall from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and is open to anyone interested in the association and the geocaching project. There is no cost for the meeting but anyone interested is encouraged to phone 887-3400 to register.
September 27 will see the official launch of the South Shore’s new web site, geocachingpei.com. The association has also printed a brochure and map detailing the tourism attributes of the south shore and inviting people to try geocaching.
The South Shore Tourism Group, the association for tourism operators in PEI’s south shore, is developing its region as the place to come geocaching in PEI. The project is a partnership supported by the South Shore Tourism Group, ACOA, Tourism PEI, and the Central Development Corporation.
